JULY2008: Italy
Italy has been named as the Best European Country in a recent poll by a British newspaper.
Readers of the Sunday Times Travel Magazine rated the nation as the best place in Europe to visit, displacing other hotspots such as France and Spain. Italy was praised for offering a number of attractions for holidaymakers, including natural beauty, good food and friendly people.The verdict has been welcomed by the Italian State Tourist Board, which said it is proud that "discerning travellers" think so highly of the country.
A spokesperson commented: "We are pleased to see Italy as favourite European country among the British public. This encourages us to work even harder to improve Italy's image abroad." The findings could help to account for its continuing popularity with foreign property buyers in the UK.
According to a survey by A Place in the Sun magazine, Italy is currently one of the top five locations for British property investors.
MAY 2008: UAE/Abu Dhabi
An independent report has found that house prices in Abu Dhabi have jumped by 53% over the past year, compared to an 18% price hike in the previous 12 months. It predicts that the continued shortage of accommodation in the UAE capital could push this rate higher in the next few months. Only 27,000 units are expected to be delivered by 2010, compared to a demand of more than 100,000.

JUNE2008:Bulgaria registers strong economic growth as data from the last World Bank report reveals, with the country taking one of the top places among the 10 new European Union members. The World Bank expects that this ranking would remain constant. Overall the 10 countries are adapting relatively well to the global finance crisis, the increasing of consumer goods prices, the inflation and the forecasts for slow economic growth in the developed countries, according to the report.
